How do YOU spell Champion?

DJ getting his award
Watching from the sidelines

The Winner!!!

The competition
I spell Champion in a lot of different ways. Tonight I would like to focus on spelling champion a different way, much shorter, two letters.... DRUM ROLL..... DJ! That is right, our DJ is the Pinewood Derby Champion of his den and pack, and ward at church! We were so proud of DJ and his blue and orange (what else would it be) inspired racer. He and his dad and our friend, and fellow Derby Champion, Reuban built the speedy racer at the Romneys house earlier in the week. The Romneys are great friends of ours from our days in Tampa. DJ was a very good winner and was the first kid to high five all the other boys --win or lose. He is a great friend and our CHAMPION for tonight!

The Twilight Zone....

Do you remember how the old TV show started with the strange music, the dizzy spinning pictures and then the words "THE TWILIGHT ZONE" flashing on the screen in black and white television? It has been that kind of a day for me. Strange things happening where I almost have had to shake my head old school Chester cheetah style "aye aye aye" to make sure I am awake... They have all been GOOD things... Strangely good things....

1) Halle at dinner asked not once, but twice it she could pretty pretty please have some more broccoli and white broccoli aka= cauliflower. And than she asked if we could please be sure and pack some in her lunch on Monday.

2)DJ at dinner asking if he could please eat some more of the delicious salad.

3)Addie asking to go to Nursery Class at church today (this is a HUGE accomplishment vs the literal sobbing and kicking and screaming we have had to NOT go to class)

4)Jamie offering to cook dinner and buying the best steaks--on sale- and the steak was grilled to PERFECTION! So juicy and delicious I seriously was gnawing on the bone...

hm mm... This is just the tip of the iceberg for the day. As to not jinx the afternoon, I need to just enjoy the moment and not say anymore....

You light up my life

OK.. So the story behind the song.
I HOPE I remembered this correctly. If not, chime in and correct this. When I was a freshman at MHS, we had several LONG bus trips in volleyball, basketball, and track. We would bring a boom box stereo and blast music on the way to the games. It may have been Kristine, Debbie, or Tamlyn who made a mixed CD and this song was put on it. We would sing to the song every basketball bus trip-- and did so for four long years. I remember Debbie standing up on "HEY, I love you"... and all of singing along...Or kinda yelling at the top of our lungs.

There are many more things I remember... HMMM... Maybe some subtle "bustrip flashbacks." Big Mac, the bird, wheat thins, plastic duanes bag, Kristine, rancid smells, Tamlyn, crazy stories, Doug, Stu, Farta, Gingy, Noe Yamaguchi, MC Hammer-can't touch this, Welcome to the Jungle, Eye of the Tiger and whiplash, sleeping on the floor, the lucky sock.........

More to come later:)Or add your fun memories in the comment section.

Two more words

Life

Life happens...
Over the past month, I have felt an enourmous mix of emotions. One moment I am happy, one moment sad, one moment concerned, one moment determined, one moment exhausted, one moment angry, one moment completely and utterly helpless and devasted, only to find complete comfort and solace in the next breath. I have been sucked into a funnel cloud of confusion, shock and despair. Days seem to blur together. I am not able to sleep at nights because my mind races and refuses to shut down. If I do sleep it feels like I lose-- lose the day. That day is something I will never get back, and time is really all we have...
At the end of the funnel cloud of chaos and uncertainty there seems to be a light of hope and promise. My light comes from family/friends who know just what to say and when to say it. I am blessed with a family who is bonded together in love. I have a wonderful husband who tries to avoid the whiplash of the roller coaster of my emotions and who has joined me on this wild ride. I am blessed with the Gospel in my life. I am blessed to know that our Heavenly Father has a plan for all of us. I don't understand everything, but I believe that He will take care of me and my family--in particular my beloved Father. I pray for peace, comfort, understanding, and time to make some more memories with dad...
